Emerald Card is a crypto Visa card launched by the protocol back in April 2025. The card allows users to deposit USD Coin (USDC) and gives them access to various services that bridge traditional and decentralized finance.

The travel platform is the latest addition to Emerald Card’s services, which already include currency conversion, on- and off-ramps, ATM withdrawals, and wallet integrations with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

According to the release, Emerald Card holders can now make sub-cards for relatives or employees, which lets them accumulate Emerald Reward Points with every purchase made on the travel platform.

Head of Product at Solayer, Joshua Sum, said that since its recent launch on Solana, travel has already reached the top spending for Emerald Card holders.

“By unlocking wholesale hotel rates, Solayer Travel lets our cardholders stretch the same budget into more trips—or upgrade to stays they once thought were out of reach,” said Sum.

“With this launch we’re making Emerald Card the premier crypto travel card,” he continued.

How does Solayer Travel work?

Users can access Solayer Travel by registering for an Emerald Card by taking part in Know-Your-Customer verification. Once approved, the virtual card is activated on the user’s device, primarily through Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Once the user deposits enough USDC into their Emerald Card, they can start booking through the platform. Payments made through the travel booking platform are processed through the Emerald Card’s Visa network.

In addition, the site provides customer support through travel agent available around the clock to help with booking modifications, cancellations, or customer inquiries.
